This is a single-conductor, 14-gauge wire where the conductor is covered in black cotton braid. It is a stranded tinned-copper wire.

Please be aware that with any single-conductor wire, you will need at least two lengths of wire, one for the positive and one for the negative, and a third if you need a ground wire.

Notes on the Wire

We were inspired by one of our friends at AMICA (Automated Musical Instrument Collector's Association) to produce this wire - a slightly lighter gauge than our sturdy 12 gauge Knob & Tube wire. Its stranded, tinned copper conductor offers greater flexibility and more corrosion resistance.

Usage

This wire is suitable for table-top, floor, and pendant use and suited to many applications, include wiring fans and small appliances.

You should consult a qualified electrician to ensure that the gauge of the wire you select can safely support the electrical load of your lamp or small appliance over the length of wire you are using.
